    Default Shore fishing Thunderbird

Hello all new to the site, but would like to get insight from anyone. I was not brought up fishing and now that I'm older and have my own kids and more time now I would like to get my kids out on some fish. We have been trying for crappie but right now they would be happy with anything. any info, where to go or anything to help put that excitement in there hearts would be great..
Best of luck to all and thank you.

I would fish the two docks. One by the marina and the other Little Axe area. Little Axe area has a ton of submerged trees North and East of it. Crappie do spawn on the old road bed between the Marina and dock off of Alameda rd. This is accessable by bank. I've also slayed them spawning the mid April/1st week of May on the dam. You have to walk down the dam road and then down the dam rip rap. Would be too hard on a kid to walk the rocks. Hope this helps.

Are you limited to just Thunderbird?
I have had luck around twin bridges also.

Twin bridges is a part of thunderbird. Where the little river flows into the lake. Never have fished here by bank so don’t have experience. Have by boat where the channel is but casting out that far might be a challenge. Could see where would be a good spawning area though.

No I would go to other lakes, just have no boat. Or money for a guide. Just a dad and his kids. On foot

DrNip. Thank you for the pics. I will gladly take any knowledge you would like to give. I left a very demanding job so I can have more time with my kids. 12,15,16. Where along the damn should we go? Also all I know is worms.. never used anything else so anything on that would be awesome. Any fish would be perfect.

Try the fish brain app, they are starting to show up in the last week or so. Gets me excited for this weekend, should be out Saturday and don't plan on getting outside of Norman proper.

I haven’t been down there in year or so but I used to park on alameda and 120th and walk down to the water from there. There’s a gate but you can hop it (it’s legal, I’ve chatted with Norman pd out there). Follow the shore to the southeast to a big point. The crappie, white bass, and saugeye have always been good for me, and if the fish aren’t biting there’s lots of shore and woods for the kids to explore. Check it out and good luck
