Got to fish the live scope for the first time; also got to fish with crappie ciller for the first time. Heck of a nice guy. He showed great patience as I consistently dropped off-target or bonked the fish on the head. We got quite a few fish, considering pre-spawn is so tough. We were accompanied by Miss Beasley, a true fishin' pooch. She was totally focused on fishing, something I wish my grandkids could do.

The screen is NOWHERE near as clear on mine as it is on yours. The image on mine is grainy. The closer to the TD it is, the more grainy it is. Only way I would know to explain it without a picture is would be if I had everything set on high but it's not.

Waiting for on the water reviews of the newest generation Garmin livescope that came out last week. $500 transducer and no module box but you need a new display unit to make it work. LVS12 Anybody have one yet

Everyone now is using the lvs32 which has a 20 degree wide and a 135 degree forward cone. It requires a black box on all units. The lvs12 has a 20 degree wide but only a 60 degree forward cone. The newer units do not require a black box for the lvs12. Think I'd still rather have the lvs32 with the twice as long degree forward cone but will still cost you $1000 more for this. I do see though where half as much forward degree cone for $1000 less would be better and in the end don't know if you really need the twice as long forward cone.

Any chance the image on a Gen3 unit is better than on a Gen2?

I am sorry but I dont know what a "TD" is. I have a an idea to test your set up tho. Simply attach the LS transducer to a rod and hold it over the edge of the boat in the proper position away from anything that could cause interference. If it is still grainy call Garmin Tech support. The transducer is easy to attach and detach so it wont cost you more than a few moments of fishing time. Dont do the test in shallow water (less than 10 feet), low light conditions or super muddy water (less than 6 inches). Those things can take the auto adjust a few moments to resolve and smooth out. Also double check your set up that your transducer is in the proper orientation. I have on 2 occasions bumped my transducer on standing timber and inadvertently moved it to the down scope position and experienced those symptoms.
