Gotcha, I just don't have it and wondered what was the difference. I don't use the front locator (Livescope) for navigation, so have never as of yet calibrated the compass.
    Thanks for the info.

I think that’s a really good question and I bet you get a variety of answers. For me it certainly depends upon the bite at that time. Last time out they were spooking easily and I was probably running about a 4:1 ratio but for two hours that afternoon, after the wind switched and I changed areas, I literally caught every fish I dropped on and I was targeting only larger fish. If the wind and my TM skills align where I can hold it in their face for a while then I might catch 1 of every two I drop on. TM expertise is, I think the most telling variable in determining a high success ratio- which explains my low numbers. Also- frequency of thumps is, as always, inversely proportional to wind velocity, which should keep me home on windy days- it should.

Thanks for the response, I knew the bite should make a huge difference especially being new to needing exact TM control which I "thought" I had until L.S. proved me wrong...am getting better though.

Nearly all of the LiveScope videos I’ve seen are of either vertical jigging or spider rigging. I often anchor and cast jigs. Has anyone used it in this manner and made videos of that?

Coyote- I am currently using a Fortrex since the steering motor on my Ultrex quit. The warranty fixed the Ultrex a few weeks ago but I’m enjoying my old Fortrex- it’s quieter on the boat.

One of the first places I started to fish with LS was Tenkiller. The best ratio I had was 1 out of 10. However, that did not last long. It seemed that as it got colder it got harder to catch individual fish. The last day I fished there in December it was very difficult to get any fish to respond but because I was able to see the jig and the fish, I annoyed several into biting, ended the day with 20 or so fish. I believe Tenkiller is like that for two reasons, 1.clear water 2. heavy fishing pressure. Because I can now see how fish respond to the boat, it is obvious to me that fish in some places are just simply not tolerant of the boat (and moving around in the boat suddenly causing pressure waves in the water). I noticed the same at Kaw. Except at Kaw I have a few "secret" places there that no ever seems to fish but me. In those places the fish are not as skittish of the boat as they are in the more popular places on the lake. I have also seen big blue cats terrorize crappie schools. I think that may make fish jumpy of large shadows and may contribute to fish being skittish around boats. In those places I have found it helpful to stand off and cast to the fish from a distance. The problem with that is the farther you are away the wider the cone of vision the LS has and its a bit tricky to get your bait on the fishes nose. In addition, you cant hold it there in front of its nose because the bait swings by the fish in its arc. So far this winter, most days I have to be able to directly control the jig from a vertical position in order to get the most effective presentation. I suppose that will change some when the water warms and the fish will be willing to chase a jig swinging by it. I have used a jig on a slip bobber to present jigs to fish in a stationary position maintaining a good distance with the boat, and it worked but its easier to just fish places where the fish are not as skittish to be honest with you. I dont wish to have to go thru so much trouble when I have so many good places to catch fish (and big ones) with a 12 foot rod from the vertical position. I do that bobber stuff and casting stuff if I have to, but usually I just go to a different part of the lake. One other note, BIG fish seem to be harder to catch. Not every big fish, but as a general rule they just dont seem to bite as quickly. Several of my 2+ pounders I had to chase around and try multiple attempts and change jig colors / style to get them to bite. I could see they would react to my jig but would not commit so I just follow them around pestering them and even changing jigs if they lose interest in my first offering until I get them to bite. Sometimes the chase will take 5 to 10 minutes and go for 100 feet as the fish wanders around eating. But If I see its a really big one I will do it.
