This is true. Another reason would also be the personal attacks certain members were hit with just because they were able to catch and post lots of fish. They grew tired of it and left the site. Odie and I have tried to keep things like that to a minimum, but it turned several people off and they stay in the background too. C.C has always exploded with members and lurkers during the spawn. The Hot and really Cold months have always slowed down. It's still a good way to meet others with the same passion. There have been many solid friendships due to C.C. I should post more myself but I just don't get out like I used to. Reaper

Yes everything is cyclical even posting on CDC, I always enjoy posting my catch and techniques when I have some, there never anything spectacular and the information is nothing that the rest of y'all don't already know since most of what I know I've learned on cdc. Hate to say it but other than a few early spring trips I haven't been out much this year, being self-employed in a small business really keeps me busier than I should be. But since I spent the last weekend in the hospital with a diagnosis of a very mild, 'thankfully mild" stroke I'm hopeful to get out on the water more, a lot more in fact it was doctors order to spend at least one to two days a week totally removed from my stress "work" environment which is easier said than done but hey when the doctor orders you to go fishing what more can you ask for right!

So, as for my part plan to see more frequent post here on cdc in the future from me; as for the overall platform of sharing information there are a lot of ways to do it now from facebook or just fishing apps that are available on your smart-phone and that's not going to change but the one thing that CDC has over the majority out there is the endless archives of knowledge and information that you won't find anywhere else. So while other methods of sharing info may be quicker and easier the bottom line is facebook and those apps like it are mostly for bragging. I'm not saying there is anything wrong with bragging and being proud of what you catch, I do it too, but for truly learning about fishing Crappie.Com is the place to be, so remember to share that with all of your fishing buds and if they are not already on here suggest that they should be. And if you get a chance to be teaching a young person about fishing remember that should also include taking a moment to help them get on here and register their own account, that's the main way to insure that CDC will be around for the generations to come!

For me, CDC hasn't been a big deal in learning patterns, techniques, and electronics, mainly because I am always experimenting and I don't have a boat. But CDC has been outstanding as far as making new friends online, at camps, and at luncheons. There are a lot of guys on here that I would love to meet and share time with. Hopefully that will happen if I can make more camps and luncheons.

I am one of the lurkers that lives behind the scenes so-to-speak. LOL it is not because I am trying to get information for my sole benefit, but rather because for the past year I have really struggled, and still do, to find the crappie from a boat. Even with the nicest sidescan I could afford I cannot get on them.

This website has been a god send for me and gives me hope when I see someone else out there catching them the same time I am out there struggling. It tells me that the fish were biting but I just did not take theright steps. However, if I do not see anyone catching them, I feel as if I should not have even tried to go out there because they were not biting. I have yet to take someone’s fishing spot knowingly, and hope to never get like that.

I will say this though, I fish more than the average joe and can do pretty well on a dock vertical jigging, but I have a lot to learn when it comes to boat control over structure, creek channels, and scattered crappie conditions. This website has been a huge help for me. I have fished for crappie all my life, but it has been mainly from the docks with minnows. I am newish to jigs, and very new to boat fishing. This year has been the most frustrating, but also the most liberating because I am pushing my own personal limits. All while lurking in the shadows of the CDC. So thanks to everyone that continues to contribute until I feel worthy!

I hear a lot of people say he is too cocky and arrogant. I think it is just that he knows what he's talking about, that he wants to help others, and he doesn't worry about tact.

Josh Jones sincerely wants to help people and enjoys teaching people. He definitely knows what he is talking about. I have never fished with him yet I have gotten to know him fairly well, personally. The malicious comments that were made about him or to him deeply hurt his feelings. He is young and very intelligent. I have talked with some of the people that attacked him and they now realize that they were wrong in doing what they did. The measure of a man is not in how much money he makes or the toys that he has, but how he stoops to help others when they need help but are afraid to ask for it. Integrity is one who does what is right even when no one is watching. Respect is earned when a person makes a mistake, admits to his mistake, gives an apology and the apology is accepted. Being honest with people at all times, no matter the cost, is another measure of a man, in my opinion. I think a few people need to step forward and right some wrongs. You know who you are. I will mention no names. i may be banned from this site for saying this, if so
    , so be it.
Thanks Crappie ciller thanked you for this post
