Hopefully someone that lives down that way will chime in.
Okie it has been a year since I’ve been down there, so I have no useful input.
Lots of state structure in the lake.

If the Corps lake level site is to be believed it is now only 2.5' high! About time for a trip there! okie fisherman, you may have very good conditions. Let us know what happens (and water temp also.)

Didn't get bit from buckbrush to about 8'. went deeper 12-14' caught 20 mostly 8" fish, 2 weighed 1#9oz. each 3 between 1-1/2#. 61degree water and small eggs. fished minnows and jigs. that was first evening, next day really strong south wind then rain then strong north wind. went home. saw a lot caught below spillway, all small.
Wife and I have a cabin at state park 18th - 21st. I'm planning on trying out the crappie fishin, weather and lake level permitting. Never had a hook in the lake before and will be bank-bound. Any suggestions on areas, minners vs. jigs, depths, best colors normally, etc.? Also, if anyone in the area is going to be boat fishing those days and want some company, I'd be glad to help with expenses. Would like to learn a little about the lake. I'm from Tulsa, so will never be able to spend much time there, so you're "spots" will remain safe!
Hit Wister last week for a couple days and had a great time with the wife. We caught several fish but nothing huge. Water was very stained and lake was up about 2.5' with a good amount of current in the river and a release of about 3800cfs. Seen more fish caught under a cork below the dam then I seen caught from boats in the river. Definitly was not anywhere close to what Wister is known for but still had a great time. No kids, no softball and no work. Cant complain about that. Beaver bottom baits/Slabslobber under a float was the ticket in the river. Below the dam was a mixture of baits from hair jigs to stingers in several colors all fished under a float. Big thanks to WSD for some tips and advice on where to go while up in the river.
