I'd give you some tips if I had a boat, but I only fish the dock. Other guys have posted in the past that there is a wall or fence or something in front of the dam. It supposedly holds a lot of crappie. Good luck.

I think Bigsky is confused. There is nothing, not brush, no fence/wall or crappie along the dam. Probably best to find a new lake to target crappie!!!!

Yes there is some structure along the dam, go parallel with the dam in 18-20' of water and you will see it. If you have side imaging, you may try that in the depths i mentioned and at a range of 60' on either side and you cant miss it. Last week it was holding a lot of crappie and most were above it about 3'. There are also brush piles in most coves,, some timber on the north side of turkey hollow (the cove on the north side of the dam) put your time in, drive slow and you will find some good structure from rocks, standing timber and brush that will hold fish.

H4G29, I almost posted that the guy who would have the best info would be swollencrappie, but I didn't want to put him on the spot. As to being confused, that IS my normal state, at least according to the wife. My reference to wall or whatever comes from posts that I have seen other guys make, although some guys have said that they don't know what it is, but it's there. Again, good luck.

Here is a little shot of the wall/fence/cable that I took a few years ago. As you can see it holds some good numbers of fish and it is not uncommon to find several spots like this when the fish are starting to group up real good. It goes along prob 80% of the dam. There is some structure (persimmon trees) at different spots on the fence/wall, you wont have a problem finding them with your finder if you are cruising along the fence. You will also find some spots where it stops and just a few feet later it starts again, those spots can produce good numbers at times also. Sorry the quality isnt the best, it was a older unit but gives you an idea. this is where it starts on the south end

Thanks guys we will try it out some this weekend. Yesterday the only number of fish we saw was right off the fishing dock between that and the rock point was a bunch in about 21' of water. Looked like they were bunched up right off the dock.

Gave it another shot this afternoon. 5 keepers that I donated to a young lad, and 34 dinks. There were shad flipping on the surface. A brown grebe was picking them off. Nearly everyone caught quite a few dinks and zero to four keepers.

Hit it again this afternoon w/ Lance, the son-in-law. He got this 13.5 incher in about 3 seconds after he first dropped his beaver bottom to 20 feet, only to not get another fish, despite using about ten different jigs. I got 7, but only one big one, mostly at 12-14 feet. The guys with minnows slayed the little ones. Fluke and orange/yellow were working.

We ended up catching a few over off some brush in Turkey hollow cove. But nothing to make me want to go over there every day right now. Hopefully they start to pick up soon.

Spent yesterday afternoon on LCB with my youngest son; he landed his first crappie (with assistance, but that’s one of my jobs, right?) so that made the trip for me! I also had the privilege of taking BigSkyFisherman out on the boat with me for a few hours...he’s a great guy & I look forward to our next opportunity to fish together again.

As far as a report, we were along the face of the dam, south of the pump station in 12-20 FOW. We probably caught less than a dozen fish total, mostly short crappie (one keeper) with a few hybrids and sandies mixed in as well. Water temp was in the low-50s. Electric Chicken or Pink and Chart. seemed to be the preferred colors.

We had a lot of fun, especially the young lad. He seemed to divide his time between fishing and raiding the snack cooler. We marked a lot of fish, but couldn't maintain a slow enough speed to be effective. We did best when we snugged up close to the dam, out of the wind, and cut the trolling motor. I too am looking forward to fishing again with JMDenney and meeting more of his family.
