I was able to take a buddy and his boy on crappie hunt yesterday. We fished until a litter after lunch. We fished brush in 8FOW. Drop shooting minnows. Timber has made a great hand with his 10' Huckabee rod, but this slip cork thing, and 7' Dingo, has really got him puzzled! He can run a double jig rig tightlined through brush all day. But to jerk when that cork goes under..... I told him about 2500x yesterday, when the cork goes under you jerk. He would look at me say, "but I couldn't feel him thump", with big crockodile tears. Or, it would be, " but I can still see it"! Just because the water has 24" viability, does not mean you wait until you can not see it! Kids! If you get the chance, load them up! They are the best! If you want to quickly explore Oologah Lake from the comfort of your recliner check out the Online Navionics map. Use the + and - icons to zoom in or out. Hold down your mouse button to move around the map by dragging it from one area to another.
    https://webapp.navionics.com/?lang=e...eum%7DEt%7BxfQ

The detail of the lake is excellent and gives you a head start on the location of the river channel, creek channels, contours, etc.

    Hint:
As an example research where the species of fish you want typically hang out in the Summer. Use the map to find those spots on Oologah then see if the fish are there. Speeds up your search considerably!!

    Good fishing all.

Talked with a Park Ranger yesterday at Spencer Creek. He told me a contract has been let to install a floating dock there in a month or two.

Be really nice in cold weather since I fish alone a lot. I don't like wet feet when I am trying to fish.

Lots of small fish in the brush piles. Hard to find a keeper. Even tried the timber above the bridge and it wasn't much better. Up until the middle of June hardly caught anything but a keeper.
