Fun day, but tough for us on bigger fish. Brian and I probably caught 35-40 fish but we only caught 7 keepers. We like most everyone pitched/dipped standing trees and stumps. We used Huckabee Dippin sticks and 1/16 oz Timmy Tom jigs. From the results we should have used the bigger Beaver Bottom Baits all day. We tried them first but gave up on them after a couple of hours. The 1st and 2nd place teams said it was slow for them early on the bigger baits, then the bite picked up. We had already down sized by then and when the bite picked up we attributed it to switching to smaller baits. That is why we fish, to learn from others, especially when we get our butt handed to us. LOL!! Just like Travis said we also pre-fished Wednesday morning and caught several really nice fish and we didn't fish there very long. Saturday we caught 1 keeper in that same area.

Congratulations to Gaston, Kevin, Ken and Steve for figuring out bigger baits were the ticket and sticking with them. Thanks to everyone who came out and fished. A special thanks to Redneck Rubber home of Beaver Bottom Baits for giving $50 worth of Beaver Bottom Baits to 3rd place team, Tyke and Stephen.

We are having another challenge August 19th. We will announce where by this weekend. We are leaning toward a new lake we have never fished, (Hudson). I personally have never been on the lake but am hearing good things, like it fishes a whole lot like Ft. Gibson. Hope to see several of you wherever we have it.

I just wanted to let everyone know that several of us are eating dinner together tomorrow night in Oologah at El Gavan Mexican restaurant. If any of you are going to be around Oologah tomorrow evening about 630-7 pm come meet us to eat and visit, the food is excellent. Call me tomorrow and let me know, so I can up the number of our reservations.

Angus ribeye and fried shrimp is on the menu tonight along with the OSU game that happens to start at 6:30. Allen is coming over for the night so we can yell for the Pokes and do our best to plot our game plan for tomorrow. 10-20 mph slated and it's usually the latter. Have fun at dinner guys see you all in the morning.
