Garmin was mapping Ft. Gibson as of a couple of wks ago. They were up the river around maize landing at that time.

I picked up a 53dv last weekend. This is my first modern sonar unit so I will have a but of learning to do.

One of the things on the echoMAP 93 and 73 series I really like is the quick release from the bracket/holder. I must admit I was a little concerned that they might pop out but had heard of no problems, until today.! A guy up on BBC said he had a 93sv that came off his bow in really rough water and now resides at the bottom of a lake. I immediately went out to the garage and hooked large Velcro straps to my brackets for very rough water rides. That would certainly ruin my day. I still think the quick release is great but would suggest a safety measure if you have one of these.

I haven't had a chance to play with them any more due to the rain/high water. Hope to give them a real workout at 10killer and Gibson next month.

Floyd, I picked up on that mount, first thing. Really like it and the quick release. Never understood why Lowrance can't offer something like this. HB does but, not as good as Garmin. I saw Sonny Boy's on his boat. He has it on a large 2" ball mount and I don't think it would come off in the rougher water.
The more I see of Garmin, the more I like it.

Absolutely love my Garmin. Incredibly easy to learn and get setup, even for someone with very little experience with modern sonar.

Fishokla if your not in a hurry you ought to do a ride along with people that have HB, LOW, and Garmin see for yourself.
