Of course, you can do that anytime if you just want to go fish for the day. Looks like we don't have many campers so probably a bad idea. Oh well, just a thought.

I have a battery operated air mattress pump. Takes 4 D size batteries I believe.

When you've boon-docked (primitive camped) every year for the past 46 years you have what you need to be prepared for everything. I've done it in Oklahoma (many times), Arkansas, Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, Wyoming, Iowa, Kansas (many times) Missouri, Colorado (many times) and even once in the DMZ between North and South Korea (just for the heck of it - pretty good pheasant hunting.} My favorites in Oklahoma are Spring Creek lake and Sardis Cove. My favorite in Colorado is 30 Mile on the upper Rio Grande at the edge of the Weminuche Wilderness area. I try to make the Colorado trip at least once a year. My favorite time is in early winter after the area is closed (but before the road is closed.) I gave up air mattresses when I gave up the Army but I do have the means to blow one up quickly. I only use an electric heater in established campgrounds in the dead of winter when it's really cold and electricity is available. Most of my trips are just me and usually my dog. As I've gotten older I no longer backpack into the wilderness areas but that was a favorite when I was younger. I gave my 5 gal water containers to my grandson last year but believe I still have everything else we would need. I didn't use a generator until I started taking the boat along. I'll have to make a fishing trip or two there during the winter to see how many suitable spots there would be, and maybe clean it up a little. We will see.

there is a motel 6 few blocks from Krebs on Electric ave and hwy 69. No continental bkfast but I have always had a good room there last yr. Boat parking sucks and no outside electric that I could find. I usually get a single room for $50. After all, it is a primitive camp out.

Well, bird season lasts till the middle of Feb. so it would be after that. I'll be doing some camping with the dog till then. I'll probably take the RV back to Pine Creek for a couple weeks in March or April, so would need to work around that also. The rest of the planning would depend on weather and water conditions. Could be anytime before it gets too warm around Memorial day. If there is a stretch of warm weather in January Spring Creek lake would be nice for a combo bird hunting/fishing trip. It's a pretty little place and a few years ago Rigrunner and Southern Lady used to fish it regularly for crappie. Not sure they are still around - they were older than the class of 42 and not many make it that far. They would usually do pretty good. It's a real small lake and only has a dirt ramp so I've never had my Lund V-hull on it. Need a flatter bottom boat. I'll just watch the weather/water conditions and go from there. Gaines Creek is a favorite.
