Default 2016 Oklahoma Spring Crappie Camp - April 22-24, 2016

The 2016 Oklahoma Spring Crappie Camp will be April 22 - 24, 2016. We are currently looking at Kaw Lake located in the Northern part of the State and East of Ponca City, OK. We will be visiting the Corps campgrounds and making a decision within the next two weeks. Once the Campground is selected, you will need to make your reservation quickly. More details and information will be posted as soon as a decision is made.

Sarge creek camp grounds burnt Thursday along with 300 acres of terrain to the north.
Hopefully it will be back in service by then.

Dave, just wanted to give you a heads up, this is same weekend as Crappie Masters Tournament on Eufaula! I know a lot of our guys are going to be fishing down there that weekend.

For what it's worth I'd love to see it somewhere close to the ks line kaw especially. Won't be making the ks camp but would love to go to this one....

Dennis have you confirmed that Sarge is shut down? I have been unloading there and the grass is burnt off but should be greening up in a couple weeks, Dave and Merle are coming down this weekend, to look things over, Sarge does put the guys in the center of the lake but the ramp can be an issue sometimes with the west wind, Washunga is nearly always protected as is McFadden area, just a lot further around the lake to where I think the better fishing will be at that time, Coon is a great place to camp with a lot of sites but with the lake being so low, the ramp will be nearly unusable.

Pioneer park ramp will be open. It can be problematic with a south wind on the main ramp, but the old COE ramp that is there is always protected no matter where the wind is from.

I just tried to call the COE office at Kaw. Nobody answered. Left voice mails with several there about the situation at sarge creek camp ground and Washunga camp ground as well. Washunga camp ground is closed as well because it was under water most of last year. The ramp is open though.

Sarge boat ramp is open just the campground is closed. Water is 1.5 ft deep @ Coon Creek near the dock. Just unloaded there yesterday. All big boats unloading there are all shallow draft. Don't think you can beat Washunga in case of high wind.

Just checked camping availability that weekend and Washunga is already full no campsites available. Several open @ coon, sarge and osage cove.
