Looking forward to a fishing report from camp once you guys get home and rested up.
Nineteen brave souls attended the 2016 Oklahoma Winter Crappie Camp at Hugo Lake, Oklahoma held on February 26th thru 28th. The normally unpredictable Oklahoma weather was perfect, however, the Crappie didn't seem to notice. All three days, every boat reported "stacks" of fish between 12 and 25 feet in every cove, creek bed and on the edges of the river. "Lockjaw" had apparently set in! On the second day, several of the folks had started to figure out a pattern (not the infamous Merle Pattern) and landed enough Crappie to fill a five gallon bucket . The Saturday night Fish Fry was a great success with fresh Crappie, homemade hushpuppies, french fries, cole slaw and homemade Apple cobbler with Braum's ice cream. A special thanks goes out to Hat55's wife Cindy for sending her great cookies (I was forced to share).
When the purpose for having Oklahoma Crappie Camps was discussed two years ago, the two main goals were to fish on lakes that most members had not fished on before and to meet other people that shared the common interest of Crappie fishing. We have fished on Lake Eufaula, twice on Ft.Gibson Lake, twice on Hugo Lake, Wister Lake and had to cancel on LakeTenkiller because of extremely high water. This past Camp was our sixth Crappie Camp since the first Camp in June, 2014 on Lake Eufaula. We have had a total of 194 campers attend the Camps with a corps group of about 18 folks attending all of the Camps. If you have an interest in and want to learn more about Crappie fishing and want to meet some great fishermen and all around good people you will have a good opportunity April 22-24 when we have the 2016 Spring Crappie Camp.We are seriously looking at Kaw Lake in North Central Oklahoma and east of Ponca City.
A decision will be made this weekend. Come join us. More details to follow on the Oklahoma Crappie Camp Sub-Forum,
Looking forward to seeing everyone at Spring Camp in April ..........FISH ON! ..........FISH ON!
Looks like my kind of fun!
