    Default Oologah Archives

I have been reading on this sight for quite some time and thought I would finally join in. Thanks to all for the information that is shared on here. I live on Oologah so I can provide a report from time to time. I also fish Eufaula quite a bit. I fished Oologah for the first time since Sept. (deer season always gets in the way) on Dec. 28th and 31st. We caught about 75 on the 28th and kept 22. We caught about 50 on the 31st and kept 15. The wind was a challenge on the 31st. All keepers between 10&15 inches. Caught in 15- 20 foot of water using jigs. Most of the fish were suspended about 12-15 feet. I look forward to hearing reports from the rest of you.

    Cool

I live in Illinois. I've been looking at the reports for OK.,TN., KY., and Miss., really want to go somewhere.
Oklahoma looks like the best report. How far is Oolagh, for Eufaula?

Todd Hukabee guide on Eufaula emailed me this morning and said the bite was somewhat slow. Should be catching 10 keepers a day. Only getting 40 a day. But the size is good. Lots of 12 inch plus fish. Some 1.8-2.0 lbs.

I have been to Eufaula before. Bass fishing only. Do you guys drift, troll, or spider rig for fish?

Up here we 99% tightline or cast a cork over brushpiles or standing timber.

The other methods do not tend to produce as well as the ones I just mentioned.

Do you fish docks at Oolagah? I know there are some nice docks at Fountainhead.

    Thanks to all that reply.

I'm not going today, but any of you guys welcome to swing by my house in Oologah. I live across from the soccer fields off the old HWY, just N of the Dollar General. I'll most likely be working on the boat. Good luck and safe fishing!

Odie, thanks for joining and contributing.

Ranger, we do a little bit of everything in OK. Depends on the time of year and what type of gear you have. Almost anything works here at one time or another.

Sorry I can't tell you how far Oologah is from Eufaula; I've never been to Oologah. But I know it depends on what part of Eufaula you're going to, 'cause the North end is an hour or two closer than the South! Vaguely, the big O and the big E are 100 miles apart using mapquest. Hope that helps.

    Default Oolagah yesterday

I put in at Sunnyside and fished Talala from about 8 am to 2pm. Caught five keepers and numerous dinks. The dinks seemed to like the minnows I was feeding em and all the keepers hit black/red or chartreuse/red jigs from 10-14ft. Wind was dead calm and I had cloud cover most of the day. Anyone else try it yesterday or today???

I worked on the boat. Looks as if today would be a good day, if you could stay out o the wind.

    Default oologah Friday

froggie, I put in at sunnyside fri also. I was with a friend in his black and red ranger. We fished from 9-3. Very calm for oologah. Started out slow, the first six piles we fished we only caught 7 fish and 2 keepers, then about noon we started catching them like crazy over two piles. We ended up with 57 keepers and probably caught 150 or more fish. We caught them in about 18 feet of water over brush and the fish were about 13-14 feet deep. The key was bait in the area. Most of the crappie were full of shad. Several had shad showing from their throat. We just decided to keep moving until we found the baitfish. I'm glad we didn't give up too early. We caught them on blk/char, pink/blk, pink/white, and red/char. I didn't go today,(honey-dos and wind) but hope to go again this week depending on weather.

If I'm in my boat it will be a white, red, and black ranger. If you see me say hello.
