Very nice catch. I need to follow you out. I haven't found them like that this winter.

Yes- launched on the south end and finally had a decent day fishing shad balls with double jig rig. Caught 71 with 65 over 10" and about half of them over a pound.

I have never fished the south end other than when I was young and Red Bud still had a heated dock or when we fished the dam. We always put in at Spencer or East Side. Also I guess I am going to have to learn what these shad balls are. I habe never heard of them until joining here.

When you say shad balls are you just talking about schooling shad ?

Yes- just schooling shad that form a big elongated "ball".

I will have to venture down south sometime soon and try to find some hot spots. I have plenty up north but they are better during the spawn and blazing hot summer. We still catch a few in the winter but nothing in those numbers.
