Eufaula Boy, I know the river you are talking about! The Wa****a? I did fish Little Glass/Big Glasses arm yesterday and also two weeks ago. We didn't have the numbers but, boy we sure found some nice slabs. One thing I was surprised about, the fish we caught are slimmer than I was used to in texas lakes. I measured one that was 14 1/2 inches and only weighed 1.3 lbs! Had a couple of others in the 14" range that just didn't weight what I expected. I'm thinking a fish that long should weigh at least 2 pounds?
I've been fishing with Bobby Russell. He is on the forum but, don't think he ever posts and I don't know his screen name. But, he is a local lifelong resident big time crappie addict and talks about the creeks, Housetops, Cumerland and Butcherblock all the time. In fact, he is heading there this morning. (I have a previous commitment or I'd be with him.)
I've yet to find any good numbers. Each day we only fish about 3 to 4 hours and each day only have between 15 to 18 crappie.
All nice fish, just not the numbers I hoped for.
I'd sure be game for either a summer camp or the CDC tournament! Like EB said above, Texoma is an overlooked gem for big crappie. I'm thinking my chances are much better of catching that elusive 3+ pounder here! I've only fished the Little/Big Glassed and Newberry Creek arms of the lake so far. Both offer nice marinas, good ramps and are situated to be able to fish in a south or north wind. I hope to fish more areas real soon.
