Shallow water is the reason. Also its water is not as clear as Oologahs water. Water with color and shallow too will absorb the heat from the sun much more than clearer and deeper water. Average depth on the South end of Kerr is probably only 6' to 7'. It's like fishing the creeks they will warm faster than open water on main lakes.......Ranger
Fished with clients today and what a beautiful day with some great fisherman. We double dipped jigs all day, first in a previous honey hole which ranges from 10' to 12' DOW and fished 8' deep. The bite was pretty slow so after about an hour we pulled up and went searching. We ended up catching our fish in 25' to 30' DOW but suspended in 10' of water. The bite was very good early as long as there was a ripple on the water but slowed when the water went still. We caught over 70 today but only kept 36 quality fish. WT was 58 degrees when we started this morning but got up to 62.9 at 3:30pm. We even saw and caught a few in 2' of water after seeing a gentleman walking the banks and catching nice males in 18" of water along the grass and stick-ups.Its about to happen really quick with a few more warm days on Kerr......Ranger

Fished Kerr with clients yesterday Barry and Karen Boyd. Kerr has muddied up and had about 1" to 2" Vis in most places and was alittle better up the San Bois Creek but had a lot of debris floating down the creek. We targeted the mouths of the creeks and Oxbowls running into the San Bois and the coal pits as well. In the mouths we were fishing in 6' to 10' DOW but only 1/2 the water depth. The pits we were fishing for suspended fish seen on the HDS in 30' but only 10' deep. The WT had fallen from mid 60's last week to 58 degrees. All the males had left the banks and were staging again in deeper water. We ended up with 34 after a hard days fishing.........Ranger
Fished Kerr Yesterday from 1 pm to 730 pm. Caught 30 or so kept biggest 20. Caught a good mix of blacks and whites and males and females. Females were full of eggs and males in spawning colors. Half the fish came from right on the bank other half suspended in cover from 1 to 5 feet deep in water 8 to 13 feet deep. Lots of fish over 1.25 pounds, biggest was 1.76. Used only jigs, color didnt matter. Wish I would have prefished it Friday and joined the tournament yesterday. I wasted Friday fishing fishing elsewhere and was too burned out to get up early. I went back to Kerr yesterday. What a difference 4 days can make. Two crappie yesterday :dono. Safe to say they are done and gone out of that spot. Caught some nice LM bass that were spawning, gave them meat draggas a good test. Looks like it may be time to head up to Kaw.
