fishing has slowed down....not being caught at the hog creek boat ramp this morning...pretty much a bust....got out and caught maybe a hundred fish today...but most were dinks....cleaned around twent five although they were bigger than what has been caught in the last days caught one that was around a pound and three quarter range and several pound and a half fish....most were 11 to 12 inch fish and maybe kept two that were just above 1o........big males, a few females with eggs, and several females that have spawned out...did not catch many close to the bank. Most were caught in 4 to 6 feet and any kind of cover helps....the bite was good on minnows today with pink and green jigs bringing in quite a few....good luck!!!....
Headn to Tbird in the morning. It's been to long since I've been able to go! I'll post the results. Good info LLD, that will give me some starting spots I know of.
Used my newly mounted 798ci hd comb and other than it looses the readings when I get over 10mph which I kind of figured it might the way I mounted my transducer, everything worked like a dream!! I love it. I need alot more time on the water to play with it, get settings dialed in, etc., but for the first time out I was very pleased. I got 1 recording made and watched it on my pc, marked several waypoints using the cursor and moving it over to brush piles and some submerged trees. I know pretty basic stuff but it was what I was hoping to get done on the first time out with it. Oh, and I caught some crappie to boot!! All caught about 4-6' deep around structure in 11 fow.
On again off again with these weather changes. Most males are in pre spawn mode, females still staging. Thats my story and I'll stick to it.
The last front really turned the crappie off yesterday....caught over 100, but most were dinks...had only a dozen worth cleaning....just about all came on minnows...caught a few on jigs....white, green, red...they were hitting just the tail...might try something small.....the water I was fishing a few days ago was 66 degrees, yesterday it was 62.5.....was catching fish in 10 feet of water....not too many on the bank...did see some guys fishing fishermans point from the bank and the pier catching a few....a few more warm days and it should be on again.....good luck!!!!
ya I was going to go give it a try this morning but didn't really wana get wet so maybe next weekend

Life at Thunderbird is good! My health has improved a lot recently, the new marina is open, and my boat is in its slip and I have been crappie catching every day. The weather has the spawn confused as usual but fishing and catching is good. If you see me on the lake stop and say Hi. Tracker bass buggy with 32 Bee Ready rodholders around the edge and a fat guy with all the slabs in the basket.
Caught about 35 on Friday in shallow water (4-5 ft) around stickups and small brush piles. Most 10" and a few larger, largest 14" and one channel cat. Slow, maybe catch two and then nothing for a while and then one or two more. This is Monday and I don't think i'll go with the rain dropping pressure and fog. Probably tomorrow.
Today was mostly dinks but I did take home 12 good ones. All over a pound and a quarter. There must have been 60 dinks I threw back and told them to look me up in two years. I was fishing from my boat slip using jigs. Right before I left at 7 pm they were hitting minnows good but mostly dinks.
