They’re still biting good on the north end of the lake, if you’re looking for crappies. Me and a buddy put 34 in the box this morning.

We fished the north end this a.m. approximately 5 boats and calm to a slight breeze from the east/northeast. Caught 40 crappie to find 6 keepers. Long lined trolling produced 50% of the fish all sub legal. Spoke with a guy that fished south side and had approximately 15 legal fish and a few walleye by trolling. Thinking about Pymatuning next week depending on wind and weather. We prefer wild and rain. Gary U

So happy the spawn is over.
The crappie are moving to the mid-lake humps and congregating. Friday evening after work we pulled 64 crappie. Saturday morning we were on the lake by 6:00AM and put 122 in the boat not including the perch and gills and other fish. Will only be getting better from here through early September when the catch rate starts dropping again. We fish West Branch exclusively.
I love the hot mid-summer crappie fishing. If you know where to look, it's the best fishing time of the year.

Looking through my pics I see we had 53 the weekend before, 26 the week before that. 31 the week before that. We'll be ramping up the numbers to over 200 a day during the dog days in August before tapering down again after the first week of September as the water cools.
We fish exclusively slip bobber and drop shot rigs.

Took my friend and his grandson out today. Had a great time. Kept 17 crappies and 3 gills. Caught well over 70 fish.
