My experience isn't as gloomy as some others on here. Any fishery could be better, but I've had some good trips this year catching keepers at EF. Sure, I catch a lot of shorts, but I've caught quite a few in the 9" to 12" range. I do agree with chauc in that size limits may not be a good idea especially if you have a strong population of crappie. When you're working on population growth, size limits are rationale, but crappie population is not an issue at EF. The catfish population is not an issue either, and in fact I keep a couple of those each trip.

Yeah the channel cat are plentiful there. I really wish the ODNR would start stocking bluecats in EF. Hoover in Columbus is doing great 10+ years after the began that program.

I fish Acton for crappie every spring, I think this is the third year they are letting 10+hp boats on at idle, so more bass and crappie guys, and as of this year they have lifted the 9" 20 fish limit to hopefully thin out the heard and grow bigger fish. I will say im catching a bigger variety of sizes, not all 8.5" thin crappie, last time out had a couple healthy 13" fish too. Maybe Ef needs to follow suit ?

Went nite fishing Friday nite from 8:30pm-4:30am. 4 of us caught 60 crappie, only 3 keepers. Jigs and minnows 8-12' deep in 15-30' of water over brushpiles. Not great but fun to get out. First trip to efl this year. Water temps 86. A little bit of algae at ramp. Tons of shad everywhere. Probably too many in lake. Most crappie 6-7".
