    Default East Fork

It was a good morning for numbers. Caught over 40 but only 3 were over 9 inches. Catching them in 8 to 12 ft of water over brush. Surface temp was 76 degress.Name: 20190612_114554.jpg

Thanks. I'm headed to EF tomorrow with my dad. Was hoping to hear the size ratio was improved over last year, but maybe not. I'll probably be trolling minnows in some usual spots - hoping to find some bigger ones.

Also looks like that area got some decent rain yesterday and possibly this morning. Water levels look good, hopefully it didn't muddy up too much.

Water was pretty clear but the blue algae is starting to bloom every where on the water. Might have been my last trip there for the year

I fished on the 12th also and had similar results. Lots of short fish. I keep hoping the ratio changes but it's not happening yet.

Couldn't have said it better myself. 5 years back, I would fish it 10+ times a year. Got to know the lake pretty well. Ever since the fish kill (4 years ago now?), the lake has really been a disappointment.

I went there Friday with my dad. We fished about 5 hours, covering lots of water where we used to catch nice fish. Probably 60 crappie caught. Not a single fish over 9". Caught them every place we went too so they were biting. I've been averaging 1-2 trips a year for the past few years and it seems to be getting worse (though I admit my sample size has gotten pretty small in past few years). The lake was never known for big crappie but you could definitely catch a nice mess to take home every time.

Not sure what the solution is... Stocking more predator fish? Removing all size limits for a while? I think there are too many small crappie in that lake personally.

I am kicking myself because I saw the Ohio FW had a box at the ramp asking for feedback on the crappie there and I forgot about it when I was leaving. I see that as promising at least that they are seeking feedback. Hopefully they read crappie.com forums

I'm willing to bet they pull the size limit off the lake to encourage people to take out more of the smaller fish.
Bigger fish are definitely hard to come by right now.

Size limits aren’t good for every lake out there. On some it may help but others, it will destroy the fishing. Hope yours comes back.
