Got these over the weekend in 11’-12’ FOW on the north side southeast of the first island. Long line drifting road runners and bare hook and minnow on top.

That’s what I’m talking about. Nice catch of some nice fish. Glad you had a good time. I casted the weed lines yesterday. Only got one walleye but a few big gills hit my cranks too. I went back in a cove and caught and released close to a hundred small crappies and gills. They hit hairjigs, plastics, and tiny crankbaits. Only three keepers in the bunch but I had a ball catchin them until I got tired. Great time on the water.

The small crappies were hitting everything I threw at them yesterday. Even got a double.

I love fishing post spawn and for the next few weeks these lakes should be on fire as the fish settle into their summer patterns.
We'll get some of out best catches this time of the year.

I like seeing doubles on hair jigs. I hope to get up that way in the next month to try some of those Yankee Crappie with my brother. Mosquito Lake bite is on.

Had another fantastic day on mosquito today. Me and Tim put two limits in the box in 2 1/2 hours. Fished shallow again. They’re still there. Not as many bigger ones as last trip but plenty of 11”ers. Colors changed from then to now but they were still aggressive as all getup. Bite may last another week but not much longer as most were males with their darker colors fading some. Get on em while you can.

Late report. Last Wednesday, two of my brothers and I fished mosquito. My oldest brother wanted to take some fish back home to Florida with him. My youngest brother wanted to have a family fishfry Friday, so we went to work on those fish. I felt sorry for those crappies with the three of us fishing for them. We searched out their hiding places and managed to put 90 good size keepers in the box. Enough for both of them. Great time on the water with them. Hang glided jigs and nibbles in 6 to 11 foot water to get them. Baby shads and twistertails both worked good.
