Fished CC for the 1st time sunday of memorial day, we went to target saugeye. But switched to crappie, caught 2 males in full spawning colors. All were close to laydowns and brush in 1'-4' of water. Something we forget is all crappie dont spawn at the same time!

Indeed. I’ve been fishing cc for a handful of years now. I find the crappie fishing REALLY slows down around late May. You’ll
Probably do better from a boat, but once the dog days of summer hit,it’s a real grind. There may be a few late spawners, but the biggest part of spawn is over and gone by now. I’ll just be happy to produce some crappie to keep supplementing my freezer with throughout the summer, until that fall bite creeps back up again!
