Hello all. I live in Miamisburg, Ohio and am new to this site, and fairly new to fishing in general. Picked it up again after nearly 25 yrs due to Dr telling me I needed to find a stress relieving hobby, lol. 99% of my experience is bank n bobber fishing, but am looking to learn about artificial. I don't own a boat, so am limited to shore/wading. I've been reading articles and watching YouTube vids, but that only goes so far since you can't ask questions to the screen, lol. Almost all vids I've seen are shot in boats, but doesn't address bank anglers. So my first obvious question is...how do you fish for crappie from shore? I have plenty of others to follow up with, so I'm saying sorry in advance for all the questions. I will appreciate any and all help/advice given.

From shore, fishing slip floats will allow you to fish a variety of depths with your baits plus allow you a way to find out how deep the water is. (if the float doesn't stand up, you're set too deep)
Swimming jigs is good option too. Casting out and letting the jig fall (about 1 ft per second w/1/16 oz jig) say for 4 seconds (or 4' deep), start slow retrieve, try casting several directions. Next try a 7 count (or 7' deep) Give that a few tries in several directions, then maybe a 10 count. If your jig stops falling you'll then know the depth of the water and you can fish just above that depth. Not only will this check the water column for fish but it will help to you learn the waters you fish.
Jig and cork is also a good method to fish from shore. Set cork at a variety of depths and slowly twitch the bait or slowly pull the bait in. Use different speeds and pauses to see what the fish want.
Use smaller floats when/if you use them, they're simply more responsive to light hits.
The learning is half the fun in fishing.
If you want to use live bait, try minnows on slip floats fishing variety of depths and locations until you start getting some action.

Check out some of the youtube videos. There are lots of people that do quite well from the shore, In the spring there are lots of crappie near the shore but many move deeper water in the summer and winter. But there are always some along the shore all year. main thing is just get out there and enjoy the day.

I have a split personality Dude and Max is the same guy.

You guys ever wonder what happened to the Original Poster on these threads?
Seems it happens pretty regularly...they ask a question, a few guys answer and the OP disappears.

Sorry I haven't responded. Flu has been running thru my house like **** thru a goose...and has really messed up my sugar(diabetic). Been trying to catch up on all my emails today. I really appreciate all the responses and am looking forward to trying them out when feeling better.
