Yesterday I got to the boat ramp just as they were releasing 1 million walleye into the lake. Water temp was 51. The guy said the Muskie were released last September and were about 12”. He mentioned they probably didn’t grow much over winter. He wasn’t sure if it would be an annual thing or not.

The Muskie have grow considerably since release.
Several pics on the CJ Facebook page with Crocs that are 15 inches, and 1 that measured almost 20 inches.
Hopefully the COE lets the lake fill before dumping water and lowering the lake 3 feet again.
Glad we put that plastic in the right places for all those Walleye fry....but not many of those will survive.
Did he say how many fingerlings CJ got?

The Crappie bite is on...yes my Dogwood is blooming!
The bite is at the end of the day...
Several of my buds have been hitting the lake in various areas in the morning hourscwith little luck. Two days this week, I also hit the lake around 11am to 2pm, I could pick up maybe 6 keeper Crappie.
But both days, I went back out around 7pm and limited...yes, I no there is no limit but I stopped keeping at 30. All were 10 to 12 inches.
They are deep on the drops, but are coming up to feed aggressively before dusk. On sunny days Natural Shad colors are working and on Cloudy days Chartreuse/Pearl and White/Pink are best right now...for me!

They have been getting extra Walleye eggs from PA...mainly for letting PA collect from the Ohio side of Pymatuning.
Since the ponds at the Ohio fisheries can only hold so many fingerlings, they have been holding and releasing more fry. Fingerlings develop a taste for each other when they are captive and cannot get enough food to satisfy their appetite. Fry are not cannibalistic.
Fry rarely survive to adulthood, maybe 1% is guessed...fingerlings have maybe a 3% survival rate.
They have been stocking both...with huge numbers of fry!

Went out with my ol' Buddy Pat yesterday...the COE was dumping water like they were expecting the 40 day and night floods.
Got there at 4pm and it was a serious struggle...very few little bites and no hookups! Until the Sun went behind the clouds for a few minutes, then things turned on. When the sun came back out, NOTHING!
The water was full of sediment and dark, we hit every bright color and dark color....Nothing!
    We switched locations, nothing!
I told Pat the way they bit when the sun went in, that I thought at dusk they would turn on...so we stayed until dark! when the sun went behind the trees the outside of the Marina turned on...we were fishing the Black with Blue flake and almost every single cast we both caught nice fish from 11 to 14 inches.
After fishing for 5 hours with almost nothing to speak of, we both limited in alittle over a half hour!
Patterns are messed up....the Dogwoods are flowered, the shad nor WB have spawned, and the Crappie won't bite while the sun is out??? This is why fishing is still fun!
