Can I ask? where You fishing in the Indiana creeks of the Ohio? June bug and Chartruse on a orange jig head worked for me last year at EF
My dad and I fished the backwaters of the Ohio Saturday morning.
Got on the water about 6:30 am and bite was decent until about 10 am then it all but shut down. And it got hot too.
We quit about noon and had about 30 between us and one 2.5 LMB.
My 1st crappie was my biggest: 13.25 white crappie - on a (not kidding here) june bug chartreuse charlie brewer with a nibblet. Sorry no pic.
Dad caught them on minnows. I used jigs. Charlie Brewer and Lake Forks. Other than that, the size of crappie were surprisingly short for the Ohio River. The biggest fish for me are still coming from the river but I'd say the average size per fish has been better at EF so far this year for me.
I think the summer time is here. I'd better plan on fishing early or late.

FISH for LIFE
HUMANKIND......be both
In the river itself a bit and back in the creeks on the KY side. I've never fished the Indiana creeks of the Ohio but would like to try sometime. Still trying to figure out the main river fishing too. Haven't had any luck with that yet but it's getting warmer so I'm sure they're headed out there before long. I use the black jig heads that are 'double-lite' that you can buy from the Charlie Brewer web site. I've never seen that typ of jig head at bass pro. Even though I fish the sliders weedless mostly, I still get hung up. I like being able to bend the hook back into shape and keep fishing and you don't loose your rig. Of course, you are weakening the hook a bit every time you do that so it's a trade-off I guess. The bass I caught looked like he almost bent the hook out.
the river is excellent in the summer and the class of fish r no comparison to ef..try the indiana creeks they r very good when water not up and down all the time..we catch em on main river on barge tie pos and brush piles in the current..yea in the current its weird but works we only fish jigs down there..good luck
