Default My How Time Changes Things

For me too. Those who know me here from seems like long ago know I had to leave farming and go into Marine construction. Mostly piledriving. Well it seems you can take the man out of the farm but not the farm out of the man. Landed a job on a turfgrass farm close to home. That will put me back at home every night and back with my family. Hope it means more fishing time too. The type of farmwork is a bit different from what I was doing before so I get to come back to learn something new and broaden my horizons. They are looking forward to tapping my experience in Ag so it's a win win. Never thought I would say it but looking forward to going back to farming. Funny though. I spent all my farming career killing grass. Now I get to grow it for a living.CF

Way to go Ed!. I know what that kind of work and traveling is like. I started my own company the 1st of April doing EIFS inspections on houses, no more construction sites, hard hats and dealing with !!@hole construction superintendents. Money is little better, 9:00 am is an early start for real estate folks! I hope to see you out on the water someday.

" Now I get to grow it for a living." I was reading JD's post about missing Shoer. Got me thinking that wherever he is and if he could read this thread what he would have to say about Farmer growing grass if you know what I mean.

Sound lake a win win to me. A very good friend is in his late 60s and turning a lot of the day to day farm work over to his 40 year old son. I am sure he would not be happy with out the farm. However he is so worn out it is all he can do to climb the steps on his combine. IMO no one works harder then a farmer and is more concerned about his land. Hope you enjoy your new job.
