    Default Recommend Contractor

I need a new roof, after the last storm. I also need to have some rotten facia board replaced. Can anybody recommend a contractor that they have used themselves? I am in Norfolk.

I wish you a lot of luck. My inlaws passed away that live in Williamsburg. I called handy man service, a home repair contractor and even cleaning services. Not one call back. Even after a follow up call the next day no replies. I was told by a neighbor that is what to expect. I had my own home improvement business for 20 years and no matter what I replied to 99.9% of the calls the same day. Not trying to pick a fight just very disappointed in today's service folks!

I have had pretty good luck. Got three bids. Well, 2 and a half. The third guy came by, and is already one day late with the estimate. So, I got lucky with 3 for 3, but 2 were a day late with the estimate.

Expect sticker shock, when you find out how much a roof is nowadays!

Well at this point I am going to do most of the work then clean myself. I talked to a realtor yesterday morning and she was going to email me some information. Still nothing. Usually realtors are pushy and too aggressive from the ones I have dealt with with my business. It may take me 3 or 4 months to get everything done that I can do but it will get done. I sometimes hated to even give my customers the price for materials. The realtor said well paint is cheap. Typical realtor not having any idea of how much good paint costs and the labor cost involved in whole house painting. I know I am living in the past at times but I am a honest man!
