A lot like the old Wannabe... except with fewer bad words. And Karate chop action. But, yes, still purtier than you.

It depends on where you live. If you live in the country, metal. If you live in a nice neighborhood where it won't look right, life time architectural shingles.

I never live anywhere long enough to justify metal... but metal is the goal. They also make metal "shingles". From the streets of the big fancy neighborhoods you cant tell its metal at all.

I agree with county. Metal if you can afford it. I just did mine and went back with arcatectual shingles because that’s what I could afford. But would much prefere metal.

Seems the consensus is metal, but anybody care to explain why? I assume the metal will last longer, but 2 things make me worry - paint fade and maintenance. I’ve heard you have to replace the screws every x number of years.

most of the metal nowadays is "hidden fastener" meaning no rubber rings to shrink or screws to tighten or replace. Its true that there is no forever solution. Paint fades and hail will do a number on metal.... but its still water tight and can be repainted. 20-30 year shingles only seem to last 10-20 years (at least round here). Metal lasts at least twice as long. I like the look of the metal too.
