We had a leak in our shingled roof and had 3 different roofers come out to try to fix it and were never able to find it. One said he replaced some split shingles and sealed some holes that he said were left from "toe boards" that the original roofers had used when the house was built, another one replaced the boots around the dryer vent and other vents, the third one was honest and just said he couldn't locate the source of the leak and didn't charge us anything. We had given up and were saving up to pay for a new roof when one of those contractors that goes out knocking on doors after a storm came by and told us he thought he could get State Farm to buy us a new roof. I didn't think he would be able to because we tried that when the leak first started and were told by the first adjuster that we didn't have storm damage, just an old roof. But the guy got it done and all we had to pay was our deductible. I don't know if he paid off the second adjuster or what, but he got it done and now my roof doesn't leak anymore. And the second time around State Farm didn't send a local adjuster, they flew someone in from out of town so we were expecting it to be even harder to get them to pay for a new roof, but they paid for it.
