    Default Sardis ramp question...

Looking at Google maps. Are there two ramps at Hurricane? Looks like one on the end facing north, and one below it facing west. Also, are they usable now? Thanks.

Actually there are 3 ramps at Hurricane. Yes to answer your question only the one facing west is usable at the moment. The 2nd ramp is underwater and of course Indian mound is submerged for sure. Your good to go, water is right at the top of the ramp but still below the parking lot. Go get em!

It's at the northern tip of hurricane landing, it can only be accessed during the winter drawdown. The rocks / rip rap are visible now that cover the actual mound itself. They were supposed to repairing the road the last few years to make it more accessible, but I believe the high water has delayed the progress. Lots of interesting history to be read regarding our areas in north Mississippi before the flood lakes were created. On Sardis the history of Indian chief Toby Tubby and the myth / legend of his buried gold is a very interesting read. Sorry to go off topic, I'm a bit of a historian geek.

That is a brief version of the story, thanks G. Just to clarify, the mound at Hurricane is not chief Toby Tubbys tomb and there is no treasure buried there. The article did not imply this, but sometimes imaginations run wild.

He was buried somewhere along the creek that is named after him, well west of this mound. Exact location unknown for obvious reasons. Just wanted to clarify, didn't want any Indiana Jones types going out and disturbing the mound at hurricane landing. I think we're all a pretty level headed bunch, just sometimes have to clear up certain things for the masses that lurk on the internet.
