    Default Garmin 93sv ?

I have found a pretty good deal on a Garmin 93sv. I am not planning on going to Livescope but don't want to rule out that possibility completely, so that would be a + to buying the unit.
But my question is I plan on using it mainly for scanning for structure and hopefully to see bait fish so I can target crappie...would you go ahead and get the Garmin or is Hummingbird better for side viewing and mapping. I plan on putting this unit on my trolling motor.

I'm in a similar situation. Looking forward to the answer.

I have the 93sv and a non mega Hummingbird, for side view the HB is hands down the better unit. I hate to say it but the 93sv Is not a good unit, for the money. MY 2cts

So for finding structure and seeing fish(not livescope) what unit should I get? I am still in the dinosaur age with a 90's model Eagle that just shows depth and water temp. I fish the same holes year after year but just think it would be so useful to be able to see if fish were even at at particular location before I set up my rods and what would be even cooler is to see a round about depth they are hanging in to know how deep to set jigs. I just spider rig and experiment with depth until I get a bite then try to duplicate. I got left years ago with electronics but want to get out of the stone age.

Hard to beat the Helix Mega SI units for scanning in my opinion. The only draw back I see unless you fish small lakes or have a general idea as to where structure is then you will be limited to covering a lot of water using it on the TM. I have a Mega 9 at the console and idle around at 3.5 to 4mph covering water fairly quick, but on a big lake that is still a bit slow.

Humminbird for SI.. and it don’t have to be a mega unit unless you’re wanting pretty pictures.
I have non Mega’s and mega’s.. I use 455 ten times more than I use 800 or mega to find fish.

Far as the livescope, the 93sv does pretty good for livescope, but when you move up to a 12” you can get a higher resolution and it’s the cats meow.

It must be the 93 SV Plus in order to support livescope. That's a different unit from the 93 SV.
