They are hoping it to be more like 3 years on the Gums Bridge and have been fighting for them to hold off on the Graysport Bridge until Gums is done but I don't think that will happen. Demolition of the Gums bridge is scheduled for February or early March. There are also some right of way issues with the COE, think they plan to expand the Gums bridge some due to the location of the river flow now, actually flowing under the bridge in two different places now almost 1/4 mile apart.
If they close the Graysport bridge then emergency situations in the Bad Lands (land laying between the rivers) will be very serious, hopefully common sense will prevail but we all know how common common sense is these days.
The Gums project is an 11 million dollar job, State Aide picks up 80% of that with Yalobusha County being on the hook for the other 2 million. This has been a huge topic at county board meetings, trying to figure out how they will fund the 2 million. They did commit to it and did the Hydro Flow study which told them that replacement was the only way to go.
It sux for fishermen but for the folks that live in the Bad Lands it really sux, they are racking up miles on the odometer big time.
