There are repairmen on call to handle serious problems such as electricity when it's 110 in the shade . 300 yd. from the gate is a great little restaurant to boot . You may never have a problem off the Dam but just remember that extra 10 dollars off the site cost is another case of cheap beer .
That restaurant, how long has it been there? I remember me and my brothers riding our bikes from Persimmon Hill to a place where we would get Ice Cream, not sure if it was a full blown restaurant or just an ice cream place, I don't think we ever went inside, if I remember correctly there was a walk up window where we would order and pickup the ice cream. This would have been in the early to mid 80's.

I have a ton of great memories at Enid, does anyone remember the old red dog that used to roam the campgrounds? My grandmother would feed it and have it hanging out at their RV all summer, we loved that dog like it was our own.
    I got 350 heads on a 305 engine.
I get 6 miles to the gallon.
I aint got no good intentions.

Same place, dairy bar window with a restaurant on the inside was called the "Cat fish hut " . I was a temp ranger there from 1996-2010 . The old red dog was one of many . Persimmon/Wallace were prime dumping grounds for unwanted pets .Made the mistake of taking my buddy there during "Crankfest " last year and we ate almost every meal there . Fish , burgers, Chicken tenders all at reasonable rates with best sweet tea in Mississippi ! Could be those huge glasses and burning up every time I ate there .

This one would follow one specific ranger around while he made his rounds but as soon as it would se my grandma it abandoned the ranger and stayed at their campsite till they left. It would lay under the rv in the shade all day and come out every now and then for food or company. Grandpa would pull the boat down there with the rv and grandma would follow in the car and they would leave the rv and boat all summer and just make short trips back home every couple weeks to check on the house and get the mail. Mom would drive me and my brothers down on the weekends and sometimes me and my brothers would stay the whole week when mom had to go back home to work. We would ride our bikes all over the campground and swim at the beach and fish, I think there was even a public swimming pool there that we went to a few times.

If it was far enough back , Persimmon hill was part of Cossar State Park . That is where the pool was /is , but no longer used .

Fellow can save money staying on the lake ! no high Electric bills , grass to mow , water bill does not exist . Some rent their houses and use rent money to buy a new camper . Never under estimate old folks .

Cossar on Enid is probably the coolest, plenty of shade, old campground but a good one.
