Default Still having trolling motor interference

Installed the ferrite that HB sent me. Installed new power connections to Helix just to make sure. Trolling motor is a 2011 model and must not have the fuse everyone mentioned. All wiring has always been from cranking battery. STILL having interference. Looks like I'm gonna have to try running another ground as someone suggested. I saw a video where a guy ran a ground wire from the negative side of his trolling motor down the shaft to the hose clamp on the motor. Might try this or an extra ground from cranking battery. Also remember this unit worked fine for several trips then suddenly got problematic. Any other suggestions????

    Chris ,
the ferrites that HB has sent you and any others you have installed ??? can you tell me you tell where they are installed meaning on which wire ( power leads, transducer, etc.) and how wraps do you have on the wires in the ferrite ??? you can either do in this post or in a PM !!!

Sure. I have a built in noise reducer that came with the power supply to the Helix. The one that HB sent me is for the transducer cable. I wrapped it five times.

the Helix cable should be good then !!! now on the transducer is the ferrite big enough to get another wrap or 2 they recommend 6 or more the more the better !!! and by chance do you have this unit network with another unit ???

I can try but it was getting kinda tight. Do you think I could double the cord and pass it thru the ferrite multiple times? The way I have it now is passed thru the hole again and again using the end of the cord that plugs into the unit. The fifth pass thru was a tight squeeze. No, I do not have this unit linked yet. I do have the capability but it is not linked at this time.

    Feesh,

ScottV stopped by the other day and we were talking. He mentioned interference that was driving him nuts. His fix was to disconnect the on board charger from the cranking battery while fishing. Apparently, the isolation between the banks failed and was letting interference through the charger. This way, the trolling batteries and cranking batteries are completely detached from
One another. Dunno if that helps in your case but I remember on the other thread u said it used to never happen but all of a sudden it started on you. Might be the charger letting the interference through.

I saw a YouTube video where that was the very issue, forgot about it till you mentioned this. It will be easy to disconnect and find out. I will try that tomorrow. Thanks
