I do find that more people are courteous than not, even in today’s world. It is simply that there are more people, so there will always be one or two morons. In the past there were less people at the ramps in general so you only ran into these morons once in a while. Now there are a lot more people so the odds of meeting one are much higher.

I go out of my way often to launch where I'm guessing the least traffic will be. If it cost me a longer boat ride so be it. I've seen my fair share of idiots over time, believe me. I have found a simple conversation with most will make them aware of the error of their ways. Really wanted to chew a few, but that just escalates to a bad situation for all. Cooler heads will prevail, and don't be scared to offer help to someone who can't back a boat and trailer. I've done it countless times. Big fancy bass boat / fishing guys aren't prevalent in the lakes I fish, thank goodness. It's the fleas we see the most trouble with.

A common courtesy often overlooked is to turn your headlight off when it is dark and you are at the water. If you trying to back down in the dark and the guys next to you is either trailering the boat or launching it and leaves his bright headlights on shining up the ramp in your face you can't see a darn thing. You can always turn them back on when you start to pull out.
