And... would treated or cypress be better to use?

After calling ranger and getting a 400 quote for new boards and hardware I decided I’d do this project myself.
What kind and where can I buy some good quality carpet to wrap some 2x6’s at.
All I see at bass pro looks like it’d last about 1 week.
All info is greatly appreciated.

Cypress would be the best. Some of the chemicals used to treat lumber are harmful to aluminum.

Dee, go to a carpet store and see if they have or can get you some 20 oz indoor/ outdoor carpet. Cypress is worth the money if you can find it.
Check online fir the carpet. Should be cheaper and probably deliver to your house for free

The cypress sounds like a good idea. Never thought about using that before. If you knew someone who owned a small sawmill, bet they would have some cypress lumber. As for the carpet, Maybe a building supply company would have some heavy outdoor carpet.

About 10 years ago I swapped my worn ouy carpet for vinyl fence posts that I split on half and used to cover my bunks. Still working great.
