    Default MK 330 problem

When I hook it up to the power, one of the Indicator lights flashes red. I switch battery's with the leads and it's still the same light that flashes. I switched fuses with one I knew worked and same thing. That tells me it's not the battery and not the Fuses. What else could it be? Charger bank has gone bad?

Don't know if this is relevant to what you are experiencing, but .... I had my MK220 hooked up to two of my three batteries & wanted to switch one lead over to battery #3 & when I did I got a red light on that lead. Solid & constant, though, not flashing (on/off). When I cleaned the lead end off (some corrosion had set up on it) and then reconnected the lead .... the red light went off and the charging commenced.

If I remember correctly .... both green and red lights came on at the same time for that lead, when I first connected it to my #3 battery, but after cleaning the lead ring the red light did not come back on.

[QUOTE=Speck;3752522]Bad temperature sensor on that lead[/What can be done about that, and how much does it cost? The reason I am asking is that I had a similar issue a while back and eventually replaced the charger itself.

Same here Chris. Minn Kota said it’s not a serviceable part but you can send it in for repair. Mine was too far out of warranty so I didn’t bother.

Ok then. That makes me feel better about my decision to replace as mine was out of warranty also. Thanks for the info Speck!

Chris, read this then check your charger. I have often wondered about being able to repair these chargers. If it is like this guy says you might be able to get a lead from minkota to repair. If not and the temp sensor is vewiable you might check with a couple of electronic shops in your travels and find something to replace it.

The temp sensor is in the cable heat shrinked wrapped right before the 2 leads that connect to the battery. You shouldn't have to remove your charger for the serial I don't think. They may ask for it, but you should be able to tell them you would like to avoid removing it. Model number on the front should be good. You'll have to cut your bad cable before the shrink wrap split and splice/solder/heat shrink wrap. When you cut the cable they will be 3 wires just like a extension cord, just match the new cable and you'll be good to good. Reason I know this because I got good deal on ebay on a minn kota mk330d that the wires were cut from a salvaged boat and fixed it myself. Need any more help just pm me. Good luck!

Doing some more reading, according to what I have found so far if you can find a set of their extension cables for extending the leads they have temp sensor made into them in same area. You could take that and cut out old wire with sensor and splice it in and be back in business.

Can’t find it in writing but in the picture it appears to have something installed and heat shrunk jut before the fuses. Would assume that would be temp sensor.
