Can’t find it in writing but in the picture it appears to have something installed and heat shrunk jut before the fuses. Would assume that would be temp sensor.

Charlie, I ordered an extension cable and tried that. The light on my charger went solid red. I’m not sure but I don’t think the extension cables have a temp sensor? I think they use the original cables sensor and basically extends the leads to the battery. If I could find a used charger and cut one of the leads off it, then splice and shrink wrap mine, it may work

Thanks, It looks like those cables have plugs on them so I can switch out that one cable. Hard part is its way back up under my center console and a pain in the Wannabe to get to. lol

The extension cable you ordered, did it have temp sensor installed? And did you cut out old temp sensor. Everything I can find says sensor needs to be right close to battery connection to read ambient temp of battery to help regulate charging amps so not to overheat battery. Without one in hand I don’t know exactly how they have it wired in. Does it have separate wire or is it in red lead. I have often wondered why you couldn’t just wire around the sensor and get it to work. If it is spliced into power wire maybe it has something to do with resistance to turn charger off and on. I know there has to be a way to repair because I have seen repaired ones on eBay. Guy up in Wisconsin sells them once in a while and says (when you get it the wires will be spliced and don’t be alarmed when you receive it)

Get in there. You going to have to do same work if you replace it.

This is the one I bought. I thought the same thing about the sensor needs to be as close to the battery as possible. I did cut the old sensor off and spliced the new cable before the old sensor position.

I did save the old sensor. I may try your suggestion and take it to an electronics shop to see if it can be repaired.

Here is a pretty good explanation of why temp sensor is needed.

Ok, finally did the right thing and called minkota. After being told by parts they don’t sell this part and you just have to trash your old charger I got frustrated. Smoked a ciggarette and decided to call tech support to find out how to repair. Low and behold they do sell the repair kit with temp sensor installed. So if you have a 220D or 330D here is part number.
    2883225 price is 21.99
Hope this helps you guys and yes it should come with instructions

I'd like to see the instructions. Maybe a working bank could be swapped with one not working and verify the problem.

Cray, YOU ARE THE MAN!!!!!! I just called Minn Kota and spoke with the technical support department. They are shipping out a replacement cable today. FYI the part number is the same for a 460D as well.
