    Default Boat trailer tires

What have y’all found to be the best?
I go through them. Changed brands over the years and still never get much life out of them.
Used Goodyear marathons for years and they don’t last and always been told they’re the best.
Had one blow out on the way home yesterday and history has taught me that when one starts.. just go ahead and buy a set.. just how my luck has gone.

Has anyone ever tried a heavier ply for boat trailer?

Next set I get will be 8 or 10 ply heavy duty trailer tires. Worth a try.

Get trailer tires not car tires and get radials with the highest load rating for your tire size.....then no matter how good they look replace every 4 years.

I agree with what others have said above. I had a lot of trouble with boat trailer tires until I went with radial trailer tires. Since then I've not had any trouble and I probably average about a 1,000 miles a month on my boat trailer, mostly interstate driving 70+ mph. Bias ply tires just can't take the heat and speed that radial tires can. The ones I've been buying aren't even name brand, I think they are called gladiators, I've had 3 sets with no problems. I get them at Southern Tire Mart here, I think you may have them in Mississippi as well. Very reasonable price too. Name: IMG_20180624_144200192.jpg

I run 8 ply radial trailer tires. Mine are like Mac Daddy's no name from gateway tire. Had them 3 years and barley show any wear. I know I don't run the miles you do but these have impressed me against all the trailer tires I have gone through the years. Goodyear was supposed to have come out with a new trailer tire to replace the Marathon that was supposedly better. Don't know that to be the fact. But radials are only way to go and 8 ply minimum. 10 if you can find them. And run 50 psi at all times. Tire pressure is your biggest killer of tires especially in this weather.

Need to watch the max speed rating on those trailer tires. A lot of them are only rated to 60 mph. Generally that’s not a problem for me but sometimes I have to slow down.

Mine say 35 psi cold (PRINTED ON TIRE ) . Are you saying to go above what is on tire ? Figure you are talking larger tires . Mine are 13 's.
