Default Replacing drop in oven/stove with free standing

Anybody here ever done it? The drop in that was in the house when we bought it shorted out and the element caught on fire over the weekend. I've been pricing new ones and it looks like the drop ins and slide ins are a lot more expensive than the free standing.

It looks like all I would have to do is cut out a couple of pieces of wood to fit a free standing where the drop in was, I'm more concerned with the finished result. I'd like to hear from anyone who has done it and see if you were happy with the results. I know the drop ins and slide ins were designed to blend in with the counter tops, I'm worried that a free standing might just not look right.
    I got 350 heads on a 305 engine.
I get 6 miles to the gallon.
I aint got no good intentions.

If it is an electric cook top, it more than likely has a 30 amp 240v circuit supplying it. This will not be sufficient for an electric range/oven combo. You will need to upgrade your circuit to a 50 amp 240v. Depending on how far your range is from your electric panel you will need to upgrade your conductor to an 8 awg or possibly 6 awg

Gotcha, my bad. I thought you were replacing a drop in cook top with a combo range and oven. Disregard my last transmission.

I replaced mine with a free standing range when I remodeled the kitchen....i was going to do like your talking about but decided on new cabinets and counter tops instead.
