    Default TROLLING MOTOR SIZE/ MODEL

I am looking to put a new trolling motor on my 1648 war eagle. How much thrust is to much ? I want something that allows me to be hand free to pull cranks. Another requirement is I need the ability to single pole in heavy cover . I moved the foot control that came on the boat to the right side (from drivers seat ) because the cable was to high on the left side as I am left handed and prefer to fish out the lt side . There was a lack of space for the foot control due to the step up on the deck .I switched to a hand control for more precise control . Moving the motor to enter the water in the middle of the boat would might eliminate most issues with room . your thoughts on which motor to pull cranks and single pole ?

I'm taking mine out for a test run this weekend. Let me figure out the controls and such and maybe we can meet up one morning next week and let you go try her out. You out for summer break now, I'm assuming?

    I wouldn't think a 16' boat would require a 24vt tm. 12vt parallel should do it?

24 volt is a lot better if you want to pull crankbaits continuous at 1.8 for 8 hrs.

That and having a variable speed trolling motor ... so you can GET to that speed & STAY at that speed. At WOT my 5spd 42lb thrust Motorguide will pull my 16' ProCraft at "maybe" 1.5mph on a calm day .... and I haven't tested the length of time my series 29 battery will maintain that speed.

do you pull crankbaits if so how long you get for run time and at what speeds !!!! 12 volt system won't out match a 24 volt system on run time !!!!

I have been long lining with this trolling motor but haven't pulled crank baits yet . The battery last all day if it wasn't windy long lining.
