Thread: I did a good one.

I had backed in to make one more pass with the blade. I dropped the blade and as I was going to first gear the rear of the tractor dropped. I had removed enough of the top layer of clay to hit a mush pit under ground.
I wrapped a 1/2"X20' chain around the grill guard, added another 1/2"X20' chain to it. Made a loop to hook the 4 ton come a long then on the nearest tree I wrapped a 1/2" X 20' chain. I dug out on the front of the rear wheels to make a slop. Dug out in front of the blade. As I moved the tractor forward a few inches I would fill behind the wheels with gravel and brick so if something happened the wheel wouldn't go back to where it was. I reset the come a long 6 times before getting to solid enough ground to bring it up. The wheels made a trench 8 ft long.
My neighbor, my step dad's step son-in-law came over when I finished. He could have borrowed a tractor, but would have to find more chains. Maybe 75 ft to get to ground solid enough to pull it out. The 60 ft of graded ground in front of the tractor felt like jello.
With the chance of rain and nowhere for the water to go this morning I hooked to the breaking plow. I backed to the trench and dropped the plow a couple of inches, removing about 2" of dirt on the 76 ft run. I repeated the pass a few inches at a time until I could drop the plow all the way. Water was flowing when I left.
