Anyone can screw up anything. But I have owned 3 Suzuki's, 2 was ran commercial. As we were using them commercial fishing 7 days per week 350 days per year. Never an issue.
I own a 2008 Evinrude Etec now. Great engine, but injectors are with programming $300. per injector.. In 9 years I have had 3 injectors put in. First one was under warranty. Last 2 in 2016 was on me. Was the reason the messed up Etec's? NO it was my, I should have mounted the external filter water separator I had bought 5 years ago. Engine sat for almost 2 years and only used 2 times. And had that stinking Whiskey gas in it. I'm looking at a new engine again. And if I buy this spring. Its going to be a Etec. They run great, get the boat out of the hole faster then the same size engine in 4 strokes. Way less weight then most other engines. Plus Etec has 10 years warranty now until the End of March I think it is. That's hard to pass up. And I have 3 dealers within an hour of me.
If you buy in injected engine add the filter. And most times it will take care of the injectors.

Again I know people that can tear up a steel plate with a powder puff . I for one would never allow them to run anything I own. Because they beat it to death, then cry when it does not work.
Etec's are as good as most or and better then others. But if it had not been for the $1700. for a tiller handle on a Suzuki in 2008. I would have had a Suzuki again.
