    Question Question about campgrounds.

I already asked this question in the main MS forum, but I figured I would get more (better) information if I asked it over here in its own thread.

I have been reading the thread about spring camp 2015, and ya'll have gotten me to thinking about buying a tent.... (Not gonna buy a camper until after I bite the bullet and buy a new boat!)

But I have one question. Is tent camping and RV camping allowed in the same campground? Would I be able to put up a tent in a campsite located near all the goobers with the big RVs and campers? Are some sites reserved for rigs and others reserved for tents? Is electric and water available at "tent" camp sites?

Actually, that was four questions. Go figure......

Extension cord/electric heater??? That's why I was curious about electric and water availability. I am not in the least interested in "primitive" camping. Did that aplenty in my days working for my rich uncle....(Sam)!

At Enid where we camped, they have a sign that says additional tents are 13 dollars a day. So I would assume you could. If they wouldn't let you put one up by itself all you would have to do is set up with someone who has a camper and pay the extra. Yes water, sewage and electric.
Nice big tent, put a rain fly over it, electric heater and a couple of good cots should be good to go.

YES . AND ON CORPS OF ENGINEER CAMPGROUNDS YOU CAN HAVE A TENT AND A CAMPER . NOT TO EXCEED 8 FOLKS ON SITE . So find someone camping and split cost .ON ENID THERE IS A TENT PAD WITH EVERY SITE , DON'T KNOW ABOUT ALL LAKES .

Dang, you got 2 threads going.
We camped a few years ago for 4 days. Electric blanket wasn't enough with 26 degree lows. I bought a utility heater to add to the tent. That helped, with 30 mph winds it wasn't enough. I bought a large trap to cover the whole tent. That helped a lot. They help with keeping the cold air in if you use an ac and keep the wet out when it rains.

Just got back from the State Park at Grenada lake. Rode out there to eat my lunch. Stopped at campground and asked about tent camping. I was informed that tent camping was fine with no extra. Simply pay the daily rate for a site and put up a tent instead of a camper. They were not sure if all of the state park campgrounds had the same rules, so I guess I will just call Sardis and ask the campground attendant..... More info will follow.

We had 2 tents set up at John Kyle during fall break with the grandkids, Oct. 10 through 14th. Sites 82, 84 and 86, close to the playground for the little ones. A camper on 82 and 86 with tents set up on 84. The added tent cost more than the site did.
If you can, apply for a Golden Access or Golden Passport for reductions in rates. Yearly launch tag, campsites and cabins are half price.
