Default since this is now a cooking site has anybody tried an electric pressure cooker?

Partner has been out of town so I get to watch whatever I want at work.( Yes, I know it's a tough job.) Instead of a steady diet of pawn stars and car auctions I caught an infomercial touting the pressure cooker. I figure some of you have tried it already. I know that when they say chicken wings in 10 minutes that says 10 minutes cooking time. They neglect the 20-30 minutes it takes to pressurize and the 20-30 it takes to cool off so 10 minutes is more like an hour and a half. But how does it taste???
Crappie bite twice a day. 15 minutes before I get there and 10 minutes after I leave.

To answer your question....I don't know, sounds like a good idea. KFC is pressure cooked, so I'd say it's worth a try. Get one and let us know.

my understanding is KFC is pressure cooked and then battered and fried a little to brown it and make a crust and to make it taste like its fried. dunno for sure tho

I've had one for 2 years and never tried it. Read a bunch about that frying chicken in a pressure cooker. Using oil is a big no,no in them. Expands so much it can cause them to blow up. KFC friers are special built high pressure cookers. All the frying is done inside the pressure fryer.

I did maintenance work at Jack Pirtle's chicken restaurants. I could go into the history of Pirtle's and KFC.
Jack designed his pressure cookers, could cook 12 chickens at once. 12 lbs. pressure is what they like to cook at. Henny Penny cookers were the first brand on the market. They could cook 8 chickens at a time, at 15 lbs. pressure.
Pirtle's and KFC original are pressure cooked.
