Default Smart TV's not so smart

If smart TV 's were truly smart they would turn themselves up when I start eating chips, turn themselves down when the car salesmen come on.

It's technology. I have a truck that you can't crank unless you are sitting in the seat. Lawnmowerish at best. To activate the turn signal you can just bump the signal arm in the direction you want to go or lock it down as we are all used to. Lock and unlock at a touch of the hand and the interior lights come on when you get near it. The only time you need a key is to lock the tailgate

I tested my cell phone for snooping. I started talking to my wife about us trying a new cat food. Normal stuff while in person, phones turned off. She played along and we talked about needing a new cat food for about a minute or so. Then in the next few days we both began seeing ads on our computers for various cat foods. We do not own a cat, so the only way this could be known by Google is if they were able to listen to our private conversations, and target us for ads based on what was heard. All accomplished by computers, with no need for anyone to sit and listen.

Smart refrigerators can read rfid chips in packaging and know what was placed inside. Smart TVs reporting on what you like to watch and how long you actually do watch. Targeted commercials are soon to be all the rage.

I was told buy a dumb tv and add a smart box, but even so Big Brother watches right alongside of us. My wife doesn’t care but I do. She says big deal, but I say it is a big deal.
Maybe they will bite this one……

I can sit here on my IPAD and look at virtually anything, tractors, ammo, hunting gear, fishing gear and then I get pop up ads from dealers or major manufacturers of said items. It’s George Orwell’s 1984 on a big tech scale. It’s really quite frightening...

They are certainly direct marketing things to you based on your searches or things you have said
