    Ho cake - corn pawn conbread
    Stump water (coffee)
    supper down south. Dinner up north
    Dinner down south. Lunch up north.
    Breakfast down south. Brunch up north.
    Grits and cackle berries(eggs)

    When we were bad, we were "ornery" (pronounced 'ohn-ree') and if we were really bad, we may have to go pick a switch and get our backside "striped"

    When I was good (usually the case...) Grandpa would call me "CrackerJack". And if I was really good, I may even get invited to go break off a bit of Grandma's ribbon candy!

    My grandma and grandpa stored canned goods, salted meats in the side of a hill, the called it cold storage/cold cellar. It was just mountain stones and mud with a crude wooden door but it was cold, brrr.
