    Default Scheduled power outages

Had our first of three scheduled power outages last night. From midnight until 5 am. I was good and asleep when the power went out. I woke up quickly in the silence soon enough to see the ceiling fan still coasting to a stop. I had bought a Dewalt 20 volt fan a month ago with thought of putting it on the boat on those hot days. It pulled duty last night keeping some air moving in the bedroom. I got up and got ready for work with the power still out. As I started out the door the power came back on. Sounded like a casino as all the beeps, bells, and whistles going off as everything started back up.

we bought a new generator about 2 months ago , large enough to power the house , just in case , seems there is something new in the air with several of the utility vendors .
don't totally understand the "grid overload issue " but none the less it is sad to feel "powerless" in a world as we now know it and our dependency on electricity .

Very true. I installed a large one for the folks years ago down in hurricane country. I have a couple of small ones. I was thinking solar array with storage batteries. But that may be more headache than I want to fool with. Plus it is not very portable.

We have some generators we run at wirk and home.
Between ice storms and tornadoes they come in handy!
On solar I wonder how they handle hail storms?

From what I have read they are supposed to survive pretty well. They are usually mounted at a angle, so it would be a glancing blow. I have had a set running the chicken coop for 3 years now.

TVA as far as I know. They are doing some Maintenance on their sub stations. I think it is fairly localized. They do it once a year or so.

I thought it might be part of the Green New Deal.

I believe they are focusing on ocean going trains and plug in the wall electric airplanes first.

It's called KARMA, not the Green New Deal.
