Default A thought for the new year

Watch a movie called "A life on our Planet" .
This man understands what is in our future if we fail to fix what we broke and continue to break daily .
I have been aware of it since I was a young person myself and am guilty as most of the rest of the humans on this planet for the demise in some way shape or form that is happening at what is an alarming rate of speed that seems to move faster daily .
We are headed in the direction of a mass extinction so fast it boggles my mind . Your children and grandchildren and mine will likely see some or all of it come to pass if we fail to curb our appetites for self destruction .
Watching this movie reinforced what I have been aware of for many moons. I know full well some of the people reading what I am typing will be upset with it due to the fact they or their families depend on some of the destructive habits to survive , but in the end NONE of our families will survive the future if we don't change the way we view our planet as a disposable object .
My next door neighbor just sold his place to a family that mowed down the natural regrowth on 75 acres of long ago timber cleared land and immediately put 20 head of cows on it . He actually thinks they did the property a favor and they are creating a "sanctuary" for cattle . It is this very thing that is why we are headed for demise in the near future .
I work in the paper industry and have most of my life and that industry is as destructive as just about any of them out there , the papermills tree farm and burn fossil fuels by the ton and pollute the waters right at the source of my raw materials ,
and have done so for many years . My grandfather even worked at a paper mill . I tossed in these facts to show this makes me just as guilty as anyone else out there .
Remember this my friends , crappie fishing as we know it will leave us along with the life sustaining water the fish live in sooner than what we think is possible . In the near future many of the fish that actually do survive this onslaught wont even be edible . So just keep in mind that little part of the equation as well .
Even when or if you think it will never effect you and or live in denial of what is occurring it is in fact still occurring.
The planet we call Earth and its amazing ability to absorb our who cares attitudes , is trying to toss in the towel if you haven't noticed . 2020 is a taste of what will become more of the norm in our future if we don't start caring for our globe like we mean it .
My words of wisdom for the new year .
    Happy New Years to all

Easier to be a denier or blame it on a crisis of opportunity than to buck up and take action for way too many. I also worked in the destructive paper industry and that along with my observation while serving in the Navy and my late in life biology degree sure put clarity to what should've been clear. Serious, immediate changes need to be made for now and the future.

Well said KETCHN and your daughter. I too am guilty but am trying to do my little part, imagine if everyone on the planet did just a little something.

The paper industry has made some changes to lessen their impact. They now grow many of the pine trees they harvest instead of clear-cutting natural growth.

I don't see many changes in the remainder of my life as corporations and most individuals are more interested in maximizing their income than in worrying about the harm they do to this planet.

Saving the Planet is a Global problem and not just a USA problem.
I Farm for a living, Poultry, Cattle, and dabble in Timber. My #1 biggest problem is technology on newer tractors. Bought my first new tractor in 1990. Ford w mechanical fuel pump. If it would turn over, mechanical injector pump work, it would start and run. If these new tractors dont start its just like new vehicles, you have to carry them to the dealer. Soviet Bloc, and Asian countrys dont deal with these issues but we do.
Not gonna make time to type all on my mind but a very big problem, maybe main problem is too many people on this planet. Ever notice where a lot of people are on Gov assistance they have lots of kids. Thise people dont pay taxes, suck up gov benefits, hav pile babies and vote for AOC. Does anyone else see a problem here?? Save the rest for later

You realize that is a false narrative. We have more trees and more wildlife then ever before.

I sure would like to the studies that back that up. Doesn't seem possible with the wildfires and deforestation that is happening globally.
