They say a picture is worth a thousand words.
1st fire of the season, cats are loving it as usual but it is certainly a sign that the open water season is coming to a close for us here in New England. Our 1st snow is expected tomorrow, just and inch or 2 that won't last long but with the blast of cold air that is coming with it, probably no fishing this weekend.

Probably get in a couple more trips before it gets too uncomfortable but then it's the long layoff until either ice fishing gets safe or spring gets here. We'll have to see how it plays out this fall/winter.
Yes, I was talking to myself; sometimes even I have to ask for expert advice.

We will be lighting our wood burning stove tomorrow night as temperatures overnight will be in the mid-20s

Having lived in Alaska, North Dakota, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, Missouri and Colorado for many years of my life... I have had my fill of cold winter weather, although I always liked it when I was younger (back then). Since geezerdome has set in and my blood has thinned considerably, (as has my cold weather tolerance); No thanks, I am just fine with the weather here in Central North Carolina. Don't get me wrong though... everyone likes a warm fireplace and watching a fire during a cold winter's night.
